~The New Toy~

On Tuesday this week we got our new toy! YAY! It is a Heavy Duty 5qt Kitchen Aid Mixer. I am so excited I've wanted one for quite a while now. I've already used it twice and it works great! I'll just have to do more baking now that I have it in order to have an excuse to use it.

The Wedding, Reception, and Honeymoon

Well, it's all said and done. Sarah and I said our vows, exchanged our rings, and were declared husband and wife on Saturday, June 7th, 2008. It was a great ceremony. Of course, Sarah and I would have enjoyed it more if we weren't as nervous as we were. We even had several family members and friends tell us they felt the presence of the Holy Spirit of God in the ceremony. We were hoping and planning on honoring and glorifying God, and He honored us in it even more by being present. Well, now, it's all just a blur, even the hour and half of pictures for which we had to pose. We'll let everyone know when they're posted online by our photographer and make sure everyone who wants it gets the link. Just so everyone knows, you can order your own pictures through the photographer's site, instead of through us.
Then, we had the reception. That was good, too, and wasn't very long. We were planning on it lasting 3 hours or more, and I think it lasted only 2 hours. We were just fine with that until we were confronted with more pictures and a few other things we had to do in order to leave. It was all very good, though. Ravanelli's, a restaurant in Illinois, catered the reception, and Debbie Walker, a lady that attends the church I was raised in, made the cake for us, saving us hundreds of dollars. Anyway, it was good to see so many people I hadn't seen in a while, mostly aunts and uncles that I hadn't seen for a couple years before the wedding.
We were finally able to leave for the honeymoon around 8:30 that night and got to our hotel around 9:00, after turning around and retrieving Sarah's purse (Thanks to my bro-in-law, Tim Curbow, who brought it out of the reception hall to us). We stayed in the area near St. Louis, and saw and bunch of sites in Forest Park, St. Louis. I believe it was first opened when the World's Fair was in St. Louis (a long stinking time ago!) and was designed to be completely free, and that includes all the sites in it. Visitors only have to pay for special events and attractions in the part. The permanent attractions (like the St. Louis Zoo, Science Center, and Art Museum) are free to enter. So, that's what we did. Of course, we should've known better than to try walking across a park that's more than 1,300 acres in size. We didn't realize that our Metrolink tickets were good for the buses, too, and walked more than half-way across the park, getting tanned/sun-burnt in the process. We had a good time, though, and definitely spent plenty of time outside that week. We'll get pictures up sometime soon, maybe, if we feel like posting them online. For now, here's one for you to think about: (For those who know of them, no, it's not from the Botanical Gardens.)

Wedding Site

Well it's been a long time since we've posted. Life has been busy. I'll post an update soon. I just wanted to let everyone know that we have a new wedding site up and running that has information about the ceremony and reception and some other details for people to check out:

Confirmed

Our minister is officially confirmed as of today. It's a good thing in several ways. I've also just confirmed the lady making our cake, which is great. She's going to do us huge favor and save us some money at the same time. I never really thought about it before now, but I do actually know people who are very resourceful, as well as good friends (even after not seeing them in over 1 year!). Of course, it's also weird thought that we're getting married. Anyway, Debbie Walker is going to make our cake for us. We just have to let her know what we want the cake to look like and be made of and all that stuff. Everything's coming together so much better than I could have imagined.

The Musician and The Minister

We finally have both a musician and a minister for our wedding. Well, we've had them for about a week or two, now. The musician is Roger Thomassen, a music professor at CBC and the music minister at our church down here. The minister is Bobby Henry, Jr., a long-time friend of my (Tim) family, which is really cool. I still need to call him to confirm this and speak about the ceremony, though. However, Roger Thomassen has done and been in weddings before, so, he's going to help us out with making sure everything goes as smoothly as possible, which is also very good. Sarah spoke with him last week about the songs we'll have in our wedding. I know she's got one picked out, and has had it picked for a while, for her walk down the aisle, and I think maybe one or two more for other parts of the ceremony. So far, everything has fallen into place rather well. We still need to call places for a reception hall and schedule another trip to Illinois to visit these places, but other than that, we haven't run into many major problems, after finding a minister, that is.

The Dress

Well I have my dress. Well sorta, it is still at the bridal store but I go in for my second fitting March 14th. I went in last Thursday to get alterations done so that it will be perfect. The bustling will look really nice. :) It's nice to have that done. My dress actually came in 3 weeks earlier than it was supposed to so that was nice. I am borrowing my veil from a friend and she is sending that to me here soon. So I now have all my things for the little rhyme "something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue" :)

Tim and I went to Illinois right after New Years to do some planning for the wedding. It was a good trip. We found a florist, which I put a deposit on at the end of last week. It is nice to have that taken care of. We also got some ideas for reception places, still working on those. And I have a few people to look into about doing photography. We have also worked out a few more things for our ceremony which is good.

Anyway plans are coming along well. And it's crazy to believe that we will be getting married 4 months from next Thursday. Time sure is going by fast. We'll just have to keep going on working on things to get them all done.

The Date

Well we have the official date of our wedding figured out. It is nice to know what it is. We are getting married on Saturday June 7, 2008. It's exciting we finally have a few things set in stone. The wedding date, the bridesmaid dresses are ordered. I am going to order my dress tomorrow. We've started our Bridal Registries. I have a good idea of the flowers I want to use. And some ideas for our ceremony.

On a side note it was great getting to spend Christmas with Tim. And him getting to know my parents better.
